Martin Paine

My core training was in Reichian psychotherapy – character analysis and bodywork.
My understanding of the nature of the self – the nature of human nature – comes
also from training in Buddhism. I am a Healer Member of the Pilgrim Healers.
Ecotherapy. All this I now place in the broader context of Deep Ecology and
Ecopsychology.  I have trained with Joanna Macy and am accredited by her as a
facilitator of what is now called The Work that Reconnects.

Ecopsychology considers human identity as inseparably and intimately part of the natural world.
Ecotherapy can involve simply enjoying the support of the Natural Environment –
and we have access to woodland adjacent to the Blue Lotus Therapy Centre – and
recovering our relationship with it as a member of the Earth community.

Ecopsychotherapy admits the distress we all feel at some level at environmental
destruction and the climate crisis.

Touch for Health is a non-invasive, simple and safe form of kinesiology that
combines modern Western techniques with traditional 5-element Chinese medicine
to restore body and mind.  A great strength of Touch for Health is the number of self-
help tools that can be offered to clients to practise on their own and make their own.
My personal practice includes Healing Tao, or Taoist Chi Kung/Qi Gong, which
influences and feeds into my therapy and healing work and which is also based on
Chinese 5-elelemt theory.

Systemic Constellations. Although best known for exploring family dynamics,
systemic constellations are also a powerful tool for examining any and all of our
important relationships in life, including our relationship with Nature.
Constellations can represent or map other wider systems such as organisations,
and, for example, the hidden stories and influences of systemic racism, colonialism
or the gender divide.  They form part of my Men’s work. This is deep soul work that
directly reaches the parts that other practices can approach only slowly or rarely.

Systemic Constellations can reveal the undercurrents of our lives, the undertows that
sometimes take us to places where we do not want to be, or where we are unwell or
feel unsafe.

Reviews
“I have been seeing Pippa periodically over the past 5 years, initially suffering from a debilitating sleeping problem. Having spent months taking sleeping tablets and doing everything that the doctors suggested I do to alleviate this problem; I was no further forth and had reached breaking point. My initial meeting with Pippa was reassuring, supportive and above all gave me tremendous hope for eliminating my current issues. Needless to say, I after a few sessions, I now manage my sleep very well. I am now a regular visitor to Pippa, amongst other things she has the greatest ability to calm my nerves, help me to stay focused and positive on whatever emotional and physical issues that are thrown my way. My most recent appointments have been around fertility issues which she has helped me over come and given me the strength, encouragement and belief that I could get pregnant…..I am currently expecting! I cannot speak or recommend more highly Pippa King she has been so influential in my life, giving me the tools that allow me to resolve and conquer my emotional and physical problems.”

She helps her clients to live their best life, realising their potential, reaching their goals and being the person they wish to be, even when, at first, they are not sure what that best ‘them’ may look like.

As a registered, professional Clinical Hypnotherapist, Isi works with you as a team to bring about the
changes you want or need and gets your mind working for you instead of against you. Your
mind is your most powerful tool but even the best made tools in the world need care and

between mind and body and result in, amongst other things, chronic pain, anxiety, stress,
depression, trauma, irrational fears or a loss of confidence and self-worth.

When working towards your future, you will be met with a non-judgmental, honest and warm approach.
Isi combines a broad base of therapeutic and hypnosis styles tailored to your specific needs,
putting you front and centre of your own journey.

Dave has studied in the UK, as well as Thailand, India and Indonesia, and from a young age had a deep fascination of Asian/Oriental culture, philosophy and healing methods. He uses the umbrella term Ki to Health as his business name to encompass many of his skills and practice, Ki (kee) being the Japanese term for life-force energy and a play with the English word Key. There are three major aspects of Dave’s Complementary Healthcare practice:

Oriental Massage & Bodywork – Thai Yoga Massage integrated with Shiatsu and Abdominal Chi Massage, providing an effective form of bodywork for many aches and pains in the body, and promote general wellbeing. Treatments are generally done fully clothed, but herbal balms and compresses may be used to enhance the treatment.

Macrobiotic Health Coaching – Based on Oriental medicine and philosophy, and mainly focuses on wholefood diet and nutrition, but also takes into account personal and spiritual development. Macrobiotics looks at the bigger picture of health; and includes Oriental diagnosis, dietary advice, health coaching and emotional work, and wholefood cooking classes.

Reiki – Japanese system of hands-on healing, helping to balance the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is a gentle treatment, helping self-healing processes in the body and calming the mind. Reiki treatments is often described by clients as deeply relaxing and rejuvenating.

Qi Gong – pronounced Chee Goong, this is a Chinese mind-body-energy exercise system that has many of the benefits of Tai Chi & Yoga, but easier to learn and practice. Dr Tim Keen

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience working in the NHS and private settings.

I am trained in a range of psychological therapy approaches with my mainstay being Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) for which I have a completed a comprehensive two year training to Practitioner Level.

EMDR  which I am trained to advanced level through a training course approved by EMDR International Association and by EMDR Europe Association.

Below I have described a little more about what CAT and EMDR is and the type of problems these approaches may be helpful with.

If you think either of these psychological therapies may be useful to you why not contact me for a chat.

Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

CAT is suitable for treating low mood (depression), anxiety, stress, low self-confidence and low self-esteem. CAT can work with difficulties born of childhood trauma. It focusses on the underlying relational patterns learnt early in life that can make it difficult to share vulnerability and ask for what we need in a healthy way.

CAT is a very active therapy, inviting you to be the observer of your own life and to take part in what needs change. The changes needed may be small, such as stopping being caught in a trap of avoiding things, or they may be larger, such as finding new ways of relating to other people. The first thing that happens with any human encounter is our reaction to the other person. If we feel warm and happy, we are likely to feel accepted. Conversely, if we feel got at, criticised or humiliated we tend to feel hurt and misunderstood, we might respond by being angry and defensive or give up trying and get depressed and isolated. Many of our automatic responses to other people stem from patterns of relating in early life.

For example, if you had learned in your childhood that you only received love and care by pleasing others you might have the belief: ‘Only if I always do what others want will I be liked’ which puts you in a trap of pleasing others, and can lead to you feeling used and abused. When you realise you have got used to being in this trap you can start to notice how often it catches you and can begin to change what you do and learn to find other more useful ways of standing up for yourself and relating to others. CAT shows you the way to change your learned attitudes and beliefs about yourself and others, and helps you focus on ways to make better choices.

The process of a CAT therapy is to help us look at patterns of relating, and the effect these patterns are having on our relationships, our work and the way we are with ourselves. Together, in the safety of the therapeutic relationship you will gradually develop an understanding of the ways in which you have learned to cope with what has happened in your life. Often people who have been through abuse, neglect or trauma feel bad about themselves and this can affect self-confidence. The active part of CAT helps you to take part in the process of change in your own way.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR therapy is a phased, focused approach to treating trauma and other symptoms by reconnecting the traumatised person in a safe and measured way to the images, self-thoughts, emotions, and body sensations associated with the trauma, and allowing the natural healing powers of the brain to move toward adaptive resolution.

It is based on the idea that symptoms occur when trauma and other negative or challenging experiences overwhelm the brain’s natural ability to heal, and that the healing process can be facilitated and completed through bilateral stimulation while the client is re-experiencing the trauma in the context of the safe environment of the therapist’s office (dual awareness).

According to the EMDR Research Foundation, over 30 studies have documented the effectiveness of EMDR therapy over the past 30 years for problems such as rape and sexual abuse, combat trauma, childhood trauma and neglect, life-threatening accidents, and symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.

By processing stuck trauma, you can move those experiences to regular autobiographical memory and, in doing so, you are far better placed to get past your past and move forward with your life.
