Firstly, thanks for visiting my profile! My name is Nadege and Pineapple Sage is my business name. I provide Holistic Health Consultations here at Blue Lotus Therapy Centre. I’m fairly new to Cornwall, but I very much look forward to sharing a little natural wisdom with any local residents (or indeed visitors!) who are interested in better managing their health using ‘Nature’s Pharmacy’ – primarily food and plants!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term ‘Naturopathy’ – I’ve added this summary, however, for a more comprehensive overview, you can also pay my website a visit at www.pineapplesage.co.uk.
The Naturopathic Consultation: In short, this is a form of ‘Detective work’ – the health kind! Prior to the first visit, you will receive a thorough pre-consultation questionnaire covering your health history/current health/diet/lifestyle in detail. Once this has been completed you will come in for your first consultation, where we can focus on any areas of concern. This can be up to 1 1/2 hours long so prepared for a Q&A session! Following on from this I will do several hours of at-home research for each individual case.
A Journey NOT a Quick-Fix.
After the initial consultation, meetings will be arranged every 2-4 weeks. It is a process of discovery and yes – it takes patience, I will be there to support you along the way. As your health hopefully improves in time, you will no longer require frequent visits. Ultimately, I want you to get well and stay well! Of course, some conditions can’t be totally eliminated, but they most certainly can be managed.
The use of NATURAL remedies to manage health conditions – as I said, straight from Nature’s Pharmacy! Diet, Herbal Remedies and Supplements. Lifestyle recommendations will also be added into the mix for an all-round holistic approach. There is no ‘one fix for all’ or ‘pill for an ill’ and every prescription is tailored to the individual. This individuality is what brings the best results because no two people are the same.
Gently does it….
Naturopaths aim to bring balance to the body using the least toxic means possible. I always focus on diet/lifestyle as the cornerstone of any health plan and then add any herbs/supplements as catalysts. Food really is the best medicine and it will form the foundation of your treatment plan, so be prepared to look at your diet in a whole new light. No calorie counting – just a balanced, nutrient-dense diet. If you are taking medications, rest assured that I will check for any interactions before prescribing any herbs/supplements. Safety first.
For Whom/Which Conditions?
Naturopathy is beneficial for anyone and everyone, however it is especially useful for the management of chronic inflammatory conditions (Autoimmune diseases, Asthma etc…), digestive disorders, women’s health (PMS, PCOS, menopause), men’s health (BPH, Impotence), stress-related and psychological conditions (Depression, Anxiety), sleep problems, immune imbalances, cardiovascular health. If nothing else – simply wanting to feel better – for anyone interested in the notion of ‘preventative medicine’ and healthy ageing. I will also happily work alongside your GP/Specialist.
‘Doctor as Teacher’
‘Doctor as Teacher’ is one of the core tenets of Naturopathy. My offer to you is one of support and guidance but I make no promises to ‘cure’ you of any named condition. My goal is to teach you the skills to better manage your health – the reality is that you become your own healer. Throughout our consultations, I will provide you with tips and various handouts – something akin to homework 😉 The more ‘tools’ you have to manage your health, the easier it will become in time.
Patience, Accountability and Hard Work.
Leading on from the above – you’ll be required to put the effort in to make lasting dietary/lifestyle changes where necessary. Ultimately, you are in the driving seat 🙂 If you can’t help you – I can’t help you. Not always easy – but I’m sure you’d agree, well worth the effort, if the destination is health freedom and a better quality of life.
Anyway, hopefully this has given you a better idea of what ‘Naturopathic Health’ actually is, however do visit my website to read more about the various therapies I use in my practice.
