What Is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is also known as Indian Champissage from the Hindu word 'Champi' which means head massage.
The techniques were originally developed by women who used oils, to help keep the hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition.
Indian Head Massage combines the dry massage (or the use of oils) of the shoulders, upper arms, neck, face and scalp. It was developed by Narendra Mehta in 1981, based on the traditional form of
Champi.
(Interestingly it is also where the word shampoo comes from.)
